The GX Environmental team has successfully installed over 400 installations worldwide to help companies manage both clean and waste water. We offer an end to end solution tailored to your needs, designed to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times and decrease overhead costs.

As we are part of a wider group, GX, a product design and software development company we benefit from access to a full range of specialist personnel in the disciplines of design, engineering, systems and software. With these combined skills we provide clients with unrivalled design, installation, commissioning and support services as well as product development and systems integration.

This enables us to offer a complete consultancy service to develop every aspect of a project, using teams that have worked successfully together across this broad range of disciplines on an array of previous projects.

TAMAS
To support our installations in the Middle East we have recently entered into a partnership with specialist utility group, TAMAS. Based in Abu Dhabi, TAMAS has over thirty years of experience in the region operating and maintaining potable water, storm water, irrigation and sewerage networks and pumping stations.
Processplus
We also work with Processplus in Scotland, a specialist engineering contractor, who provide local assistance and support for any of our installations.

Our team of environmental experts

Mark Helmich
Managing Director

Mark trained as a mechanical engineer and has amassed over 30 years’ experience including fourteen years of lecturing on computer aided engineering and product visualisation within further education. During a company restructure in 2007 Mark was appointed as managing director of GX, and GX Environmental. 

Mark is a firm believer in sharing best practice by involving engineers from different disciplines to collaborate on projects to aid the transfer of ideas and procedural knowledge. Under his leadership GX Environmental continues to develop end to end solutions to help clients monitor water using bespoke software and their own logging systems.

When not leading the company, Mark tries to make as much time to indulge in his two passions; golf and cooking!  A keen golfer he currently plays off 20, and is renowned for his legendary Christmas dinner.

Bill Astley
Business Development Manager

Bill is passionate about ensuring companies have access to tools and technology to allow them to monitor ‘real time data’ to help increase productivity, reduce downtime and thereby improve profitability

Having worked for production and process monitoring company Mattec and technical innovators Kaba Benzing, Bill joined IEA Ltd which eight years ago became GX Environmental. As the business development manager, he travels to destinations around the world highlighting to clients the benefits that GX Environmental’s bespoke software TidoN can deliver. Bill has been instrumental in introducing Clean Water Tanker Filling Solutions to clients in the Middle East and Canada, where management of clean water is imperative.

When not visiting clients, Bill likes to spend time pike fishing, a hobby he took up in his late 40s.

Nick Broad
Operations Director

Nick joined GX twenty years ago, as a trainee with qualifications in microcomputer technology. Since then he has risen through the company to his current position, managing the operational issues for GX Environmental, along with coordinating the Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety management systems for the group.

Nick’s pragmatic approach helps to find practical answers, thereby ensuring the success of the projects that GX Environmental undertakes. He is responsible for providing both the computer based service support and ongoing training, as well as developing the specifications.

When not at work Nick, a keen sailor and motorcyclist, he can be found enjoying the outdoors and searching for good dog friendly restaurants!

Dale Crewe
Technical Director

As a physics graduate from Cardiff University, in 1991 Dale started his first job with the American computer services company Anacomp in 1992. During the five years he worked for the company, Dale rose to the role of Principle Electronic Engineer working from their European manufacturing base.

In 1997 he chose to join the Welsh based design and software development company,GX to work within their software department developing products for GX Environmental. Since many of the products sold by GX Environmental are software based, Dale has been instrumental in developing and devising bespoke software which allow customers to manage their waste water more efficiently.

As the field service manager, Dale is frequently involved with the installation of our hardware on site, advising on the technical specifications, to ensure all the component parts combine to provide resilient, reliable results.

Michael Cox
Electrical/Electronics Technician

Following an electrical apprenticeship, Mike joined GX at the tender age of 21. In the ensuing five years Mike has honed his electrical skills having helped design and implement electrical builds and 3 Phase systems.

Mike has become a valued member of the Environmental team, assisting with site calls and general site maintenance. His indepth knowledge of software packages combined with his skills in mechanical and electronical electronics continue to be highly beneficial to the team when installing new online waste water monitoring systems.

When not honing, his electronic skills Mike has recently taken up sword fencing, successfully competing and winning medals for the Welsh team

Sam Pearson
Technical Director

Upon completing his Physics degree at Swansea University in 2013, Sam joined GX on an initial 10-week graduate work placement scheme though Go Wales. During his placement, Sam showed an aptitude for software development, having already completed several software modules during the course of his degree.

Following the completion of his work experience in 2014, Sam was asked to join GX permanently as a software engineer. Since then he has been central to developing software to allow GX Environmental clients more control and site of their waste water management systems. This has included developing websites and apps, database administration, as well as providing technical support.
